The Foundation was proud to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Sweet Pea Appeal on Tuesday, 4 September. In attendance were about 60 of our closest friends and colleagues. We were particularly excited to welcome members of the osteopathic community some of the our most loyal benefactors.
The Sweet Pea Appeal is a fund- and awareness-raising initiative which was originally due to be launched by Diana, Princess of Wales, just days after her death. Some of our long-term supporters may recall that one of the children we were treating at the time, Laura Stanford, became our
Princess for a Day and not only launched the Appeal, but also delivered a basket of sweet peas to the gates of Kensington Palace.
The reception on 4 September 2007 served as the platform for the launch of our new name - the Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy. As the theme of
The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund is ''the work continues' we felt that the anniversary of the Sweet Pea Appeal was a fitting and auspicious time to celebrate our continuing - and expanding - excellence in the field of paediatric healthcare.
