For the last 10 years, the Foundation for Paediatric Osteopathy has been training post-graduate osteopaths in paediatrics. Initially this was a two-year Diploma in Paediatric Osteopathy (DPO) but this training has now been replaced by a Masters degree - the MSc in Paediatric Osteopathy. This course is an exciting programme of theoretical and clinical study; its existence is a testament of paediatric osteopathy's increasing role in mainstream paediatric healthcare.

Providing specialist training to osteopaths who work in paediatrics has always been intrinsic to the Foundation. As of 2007, more than 120 osteopaths have completed training at the Foundation!

The last few years have seen our education programme gain world-wide recognition. Osteopaths who apply for the MSc course are already qualified and registered with the General Osteopathic Council (a legal requirement in the UK). This course, run in collaboration with the British School of Osteopathy, is the only one of its kind. The course is very demanding, combining clinical supervision with a rigorous academic programme to maximise the learning experience. The clinical education takes place within the Foundation's clinics; each MSc student osteopath will work a minimum of 90 days over two years in either London or Manchester, one day per week. This includes supervised treatment of premature babies in Barnet General Hospital's neonatal intensive care unit and general paediatric inpatients of all ages.
